FOODS AND UTENSILS
The Apache Tribe people were hunters and gatherers. This meant that the Men hunted Buffalo, deer, antelope and the women gathered nuts, seeds, fruits from the environment around them. Although the Apache people were not farmers they still ate corn often. The Apache people captured the corn during raids and also traded with the Pueblo Tribes and the Spanish. Some of the Apaches favoured recipes included cornbread and acorn stew.
A general rule for Apaches is that they would not eat bugs, scaly things, slimy things or anything that lives in water. They also would not eat anything that ate those things or were believed to have eaten those things. The Apache people didn’t eat bears, dogs, pigs or fish because they supposedly ate “nasty things” They ate most animals that did not eat “nasty things” (the bugs ect.) these animals ate only plants, seeds or fruit they occasionally even ate mules, wood-rats and field mice, only in emergencies.
